The View from Hampton U now on Cox in Fairfax and Fredericksburg, VA

Hampton, Va.—Recently, The View from Hampton U has made tremendous growth and has started airing in an additional market. The View from Hampton U show has now expanded to Northern Virginia (NOVA), including the Fairfax and Fredericksburg areas. The View from Hampton U runs on Cox channel 74 in Fairfax and Cox channel 77 in Fredericksburg on Saturdays at noon and 3 p.m. on Sundays.

The show began airing in the new market at the beginning of January.

The fourth season launched last November introducing two new hosts, Hampton Alumni and graduates of Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications, Stephanie Sutton ’08 and Joseph Walters ’05.

The View from Hampton U is executively produced by HU president William R. Harvey and Assistant Professor of English and Cinema Studies, Eleanor Earl.

Walters, having a background in journalism and videography has worked with Radio One’s internship program here he then transferred his skills from working in radio to television and becoming the host of a local entertainment show called “Da Circuit” before landing the job hosting The View from Hampton U.

Sutton has worked for WVEC Channel 13, MyGoodLyfe.com, Lynk News and Cox Channel 11 as a reporter, host, and show producer. As the Director of Media Relations and the Host/Producer of OliveCocoTV, Stephanie has covered various red carpet events across the country including Athletes vs. Cancer in Los Angeles to New York Fashion Week runway shows.

“I felt it befitting to select two of HU's best and brightest alumni to host our fourth season. Our new hosts will bring a great deal of expertise and panache to the show,” said Earl.

Earl was completely right. These two additions have made the show a success which has led to the expansion of viewership to Northern Va.

The show entails details on Hampton’s academic programs, high caliber faculty, groundbreaking research, and record-shattering athletics. COX is not a Nielsen-rated company; therefore there are no ratings that can be reported on the success of the show. With the possibility of being watched by 1 million viewers with the Hampton Roads market having over 500,000 subscribers and NOVA adding on another 500,000 viewers, the success of the show is skyrocketing.
